Explore our campus through the seasons ☀🍃🍂❄

  • There are so many places on campus we know you'll love!

We’ve highlighted some of our favourite places on campus that we know you’ll love too!

    The Pond

A Nipissing-favourite! You’ll find the picturesque pond to be an ideal location for some fresh-air, to relax, study or enjoy lunch with your friends. With views of the pond from many of our classrooms, the natural beauty of our campus offers an inspired and calming learning environment.

    R.J.S. Student Athletics Centre

The Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre is one of the most state-of-the-art facilities in Ontario. Complete with team rooms, cardio and weight rooms, a fitness studio, two gymnasiums, and a squash court, our Athletics Centre has something for everyone! Our Living Wall, located in the heart of the building, contains a wide range of flowering plants and foliage that improves indoor air quality, acoustics, health, and wellness.

    The Learning Library

In our Learning Library you'll find study rooms, comfy chairs and a variety of resources (and resourceful people) to ensure your academic success. The library offers a collaborative and inspirational environment through its incredible architecture, bright study spaces, and excellent views of campus and Lake Nipissing.

    Campus Trails and Duchesnay Falls

Did you know we have over 20km of hiking trails on campus? If you enjoy connecting with nature and experiencing the magic of the outdoors, we've got you covered. Whether you’re hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing, our trails are maintained for year-round access. Enjoy North Bay’s beautiful Duchesnay Falls which is easily accessible after a short hike on our campus trail system.

    The NUSU Student Centre

With plenty of study nooks, an outdoor courtyard, large open-concept atrium and a full service restaurant and nightclub, we know you'll spend many hours at the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) Student Centre. Whether you're grabbing a bite to eat with friends or looking for a comfy spot to hangout between classes, you can expect good vibes and friendly faces at the NUSU Student Centre.

    Our Classrooms

Nipissing offers many opportunities for experiential learning and that means many classes take place in non-traditional classroom settings, including the forest! Whether you're operating drones to monitor watershed hydrology, using motion capture software to analyze kinetic muscle tissue, or doing hands-on learning in one of our state-of-the-art labs, you'll find that our campus classrooms are anything but ordinary.

What are your favourite spots on campus?

    Devin D.

"I spend a lot of time at the athletic center but I also love the Library and another cool spot is the theater. I would go there to do some homework sometimes. There are a lot of cool small spots which you wouldn’t find in a big school."

    Jessica E., Biology Student

"My favourite spot on campus is the NUSU Student Centre and the soccer field."

    Keely H.,

Computer Science Student, Artist, Residence Council

“I really like the campus trails. There is this one spot on the South Duchesnay trail where you can see all the way up College Drive, the City of North Bay and the waterfront. It looks really cool when the sun is setting.”

Riley M., Philosophy Student, NUSU President

“My favorite spot is the pond. To just sit there, have a coffee with my partner and to just be; be together and be part of Nipissing. This is my home. It's where I am meant to be for my undergraduate.”
